ServiceNow Gives Every AI Agent a Verifiable Identity and an Off Switch

ServiceNow is retooling its AI Control Tower as the Super Intelligence Control Tower (SICT) and adding a feature that gives every AI agent -- its own and third-party alike -- a verifiable identity that can be audited and revoked.

The new AI Passport component checks each agent's authorized scope at runtime. If an agent deviates from what it's permitted to do, SICT can restrict, redirect, or shut it down. All activity is logged. Additional governance additions include shadow-AI detection, more than 400 connectors, cost governance, and policy enforcement tools, with most features expected by year end.

Key Takeaways:

  • The third generation of EmployeeWorks adds ToolSmith, a vibe-coding environment for building agent automations, along with Productivity Assistants and background Productivity Routines -- currently in controlled availability.
  • Analysts praised the governance direction but noted that some enforcement features, including throttling and hard cost caps, are still described as future capabilities.
  • Organizations are advised to assign owners and budgets to agents before deployment to get the most out of the governance framework.
