Sun Life Cuts Advisor Admin Time by Up to 30 Minutes Per Session with New AI Tools
Sun Life Financial is scaling its AI toolkit for Canadian advisors, adding an AI-powered advisor concierge on top of its already-deployed Notes Assistant — and early usage numbers suggest the bet is paying off.
Notes Assistant: Generative AI for Client Admin
Notes Assistant uses generative AI to securely summarize client meetings, compile action items, and draft follow-up emails. Sun Life reports the tool saves advisors 15 to 30 minutes per client session — a meaningful efficiency gain across a large advisor book. The tool recently earned a 2026 CIO Award Canada, recognizing its impact on financial services technology.
New: AI-Powered Advisor Concierge
Launched in July 2026, the advisor concierge helps advisors quickly find information about products, policies, and internal processes. In its first weeks, the tool was used in more than 11,000 client conversations, signaling strong early adoption.
Part of a Broader Responsible AI Strategy
Sun Life frames both tools within a wider AI roadmap that includes a proprietary agentic AI platform for technology architects and founding membership in the AI Consortium. The company's stated goal: reduce administrative burden so advisors can spend more time building client relationships.
"The best advisor relationships are built through conversations, trust and a deep understanding of a Client's goals, not paperwork," said Jessica Tan, EVP & President, Sun Life Canada.
For financial services leaders weighing AI adoption, Sun Life's rollout offers a concrete model: start with time-saving admin tools, measure impact, and expand from there.
