Kraken and Sierra Partner to Deploy Utility-Grade Autonomous AI Agents at Enterprise Scale
Kraken Technologies has launched Autonomous Agents, a suite of AI agents purpose-built for energy and utility customer service, developed in partnership with Sierra — the AI platform company co-founded by Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor. The product combines Sierra's AI customer experience platform with Kraken's utility data model and workflow engine.
Unlike generic conversational AI, these agents are designed to handle complex, regulated utility interactions — accessing real-time account data, pricing, usage, and operational workflows within a governed compliance layer that incorporates energy market rules.
Key Takeaways
- Enterprise-scale deployment, fast. A major energy utility went live within four weeks, and the system now supports approximately 1.3 million customer accounts.
- Efficiency claims are specific. Kraken says its platform delivers up to 40% greater operational efficiency and three times higher customer satisfaction compared to traditional IVR systems.
- No-code agent builder. Customer operations leaders can design, test, and deploy agents without engineering support, using Kraken's utility-specific data architecture as the foundation.
Kraken currently supports more than 90 million accounts globally, with customers including EDF Energy, E.ON Next, Octopus Energy, National Grid, and Tokyo Gas.
Assaf Biderman, Kraken's Chief AI Officer, said: "Energy is too important, too complex and too urgent for generic AI. That's why we're building specialized AI for utilities."
Bret Taylor of Sierra added that the partnership helps utilities "build better, more human experiences while also driving their revenue."
