Only 2% of Logistics Companies Are AI-Ready, Adecco Research Finds

Global logistics companies recognize the importance of artificial intelligence but lack the strategy and leadership readiness to act on it. That is the headline finding from new research by the Adecco Group, the world's second-largest staffing firm, based on surveys of 37,500 employees across 31 countries and 2,000 C-suite executives across 13 countries.

The numbers reveal a significant gap between workforce openness and organizational preparedness.

What the Research Found

• Just 2% of logistics companies qualify as "future ready" for AI in the workplace.
• 23% do not have an AI policy of any kind in place.
• 51% of logistics firms say their leadership teams are not well-prepared to leverage AI tools in decision-making.
• 42% do not offer formal training to upskill employees on AI.
• 30% of logistics leaders are dissatisfied with their organization's performance in embedding AI tools and policies.

The employee picture is markedly more optimistic: 81% of workers believe AI is creating jobs, 77% say they would be comfortable collaborating with an AI agent, and 78% say they will take responsibility for their own skills development. Yet only 27% have been actively involved by their employer in how their work is being reshaped.

What Is Driving the Urgency

AI adoption in logistics is expanding rapidly, from warehouse inventory automation and route optimization to real-time tracking, demand forecasting, and autonomous mobile robots. Adecco notes that 37% of on-the-job skills in the sector are expected to change by 2030, while 51% of firms have provided formal upskilling opportunities and a further 38% plan to do so within the next 12 months.

"To capitalize on the benefits of AI and retain a competitive advantage, logistics companies must rethink their talent strategies from the ground up," the Adecco Group stated in the report.
