SAP Deploys 200 Autonomous AI Agents and Three Major Acquisitions in Bold Business AI Push

SAP is making one of its most aggressive moves yet into business AI — and the scale is hard to ignore. The company has unveiled more than 50 Joule assistants and roughly 200 specialized autonomous agents under its new Autonomous Suite and Business AI Platform. The goal: eliminate manual work from core ERP processes.
The results are already measurable. A new Cash Management Agent cuts liquidity planning workload by up to 80%, while packaging compliance checks that once took a full workday now take around 20 minutes. SAP runs these agents through NVIDIA's OpenShell sandbox and has integrated Anthropic’s Claude as the reasoning engine powering Joule.
To fuel this push, SAP went on a buying spree in May alone — closing the acquisition of Reltio (master data management), planning to close Dremio (data lakehouse platform) in Q3 2026, and committing more than €1 billion over four years to Prior Labs, which builds AI models specifically for structured business data like tables, numbers, and statistics where large language models often fall short.
Key Takeaways:
- SAP now has 50+ Joule AI assistants and 200 specialized autonomous agents in production
- Cash management workload cut by 80%; compliance tasks reduced from a full day to ~20 minutes
- Three acquisitions (Reltio, Dremio, Prior Labs) build the data foundation for agentic AI at scale
- RISE customers get 3 Joule assistants in year one; GROW customers get the full portfolio
