Financial Services Firm SEI Creates Three New AI Leadership Roles to Move From Pilot to Production
SEI, the Pennsylvania-based financial technology and investment services company, has restructured its leadership to put artificial intelligence at the center of its operating model. The company appointed three executives to newly created or expanded roles, all focused on moving AI from experimentation into enterprise-wide deployment.
The appointments — announced June 16, 2026 — reflect a broader pattern in financial services, where firms are now under pressure to show measurable returns on AI investments rather than continue running isolated pilots.
- Sneha Shah was appointed Chief AI Strategist and will oversee enterprise AI strategy, technology partnerships, acquisitions, and product innovation. Shah also leads SEI Next, the company’s innovation unit, and will guide how AI is embedded into client experiences and internal workflows
- Michael Tryniszewski was appointed Head of AI Orchestration, responsible for deploying AI across business units — from compliance and risk management to product teams — with a specific mandate to move AI initiatives from pilot into production
- William Coffey joins as Chief Data Officer, tasked with building a unified data and AI framework, evaluating the commercial value of SEI’s data assets, and establishing governance and security standards
CEO Ryan Hicke framed the restructure as a strategic necessity: “AI is no longer optional for financial services firms; it’s a strategic accelerant that requires clarity, accountability, and long-term vision.”
The appointments come as financial institutions face regulatory scrutiny around AI governance, cybersecurity risks from automated decision-making, and pressure from investors to quantify AI’s business impact. Shah, who joined SEI in 2023 from London Stock Exchange Group and Refinitiv, anchored the vision: “Our focus is on applying AI in ways that enhance human decision-making, strengthen trust, and deliver measurable outcomes.”
