Medallia has completed a recapitalization transaction that reduces its outstanding debt and provides $150 million in new capital to accelerate its artificial intelligence roadmap. The company is repositioning its experience management platform from a feedback analytics tool into an intelligent operating layer capable of automating decisions and workflows at enterprise scale.

The transaction transferred ownership of Medallia to an investor group led by funds managed by Blackstone, alongside Apollo and FS KKR Capital Corp. (NYSE: FSK). Chief Executive Officer Mark Bishof described the closing as a defining moment for the company.

"With a stronger balance sheet and the full support of our new ownership group, we are ready to move even faster in delivering AI-led experience management to the world's most iconic brands," Bishof said.

How Medallia Plans to Use the Capital

The company identified three priority areas for the new investment:

  • Generative AI and automation capabilities: Expanding AI features within its Frontline-Ready AI platform, which transforms customer and employee feedback into predictive insights and automated actions.
  • Enterprise integrations: Strengthening compatibility with existing enterprise software environments where large organizations already operate.
  • Agentic AI ecosystem: Extending platform support for emerging agentic AI architectures that enable automated workflow execution across the organization.

Context and Scale

Medallia says its platform currently analyzes billions of customer and employee feedback signals and is used by seven of the Fortune 10. The company's stated goal is to evolve experience management beyond reporting into a system that identifies issues, prioritizes responses, and automates actions without requiring manual intervention.
