SAP Concur Brings AI Into Finance and Admin Work With New Tools Including First Cross-Platform Leakage Tracker
SAP Concur on Monday announced a set of new AI-powered tools that extend the platform's capabilities beyond travelers and travel managers into finance and administrative workflows.
The new releases include an AI-assisted approval manager, expense-policy benchmarking, virtual card management, and a travel leakage-reporting tool built in partnership with American Express Global Business Travel (Amex GBT).
What Is Travel Leakage
Leakage refers to travel bookings that fall outside a company's managed travel policies. SAP Concur says that at some companies, more than 30% of bookings happen this way. Until now, this spending was largely invisible to Concur because the transaction data was held by Amex GBT, not shared across the two platforms.
The leakage reporting tool is the first significant product to emerge from the SAP Concur and Amex GBT alliance formed in 2025, which was designed to combine travel, expense, and marketplace data across both platforms. The tool gives travel managers a unified view of out-of-policy spending that previously required manual cross-referencing.
Key Takeaways
- The AI-assisted approval manager and expense-policy benchmarking represent incremental AI additions to existing Concur tools.
- The leakage tool is the standout release because it crosses the data boundary between the two platforms for the first time.
- The SAP Concur and Amex GBT alliance was formed in 2025 to enable this kind of cross-platform data sharing.
- Enterprise travel policy compliance is gaining urgency as corporate travel spend continues to recover.
