SCSK Deploys Patent-Backed AI System to Map Digital Skills Across All Employees

Japanese IT services company SCSK has launched a company-wide Digital Skill Assessment System that uses generative AI to evaluate employee competencies across 40 defined skill areas. The initiative, announced August 28, 2026, extends the program to all staff, not just technical workers, as part of SCSK's mid-term strategy called Next Dimension 2030.

How the System Works

The system breaks digital capabilities into 40 skill sets across four categories: Business Transformation, Data Utilization, Technology, and Security. These categories align with Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and IPA DX Promotion Skill Standard (DSS-P). Employees complete a self-evaluation, which is then processed by a generative AI engine that produces an objective skill-coverage rating displayed as Gold, Silver, or Bronze badges. The AI evaluation engine was co-developed with Insight Edge and has already received a patent grant.

The system integrates with existing certification and training records, enabling strategic talent assignment rather than simply measuring current state.

Key takeaways:

  • 86.7% of AI consulting firms expected AI consulting to drive growth in 2026, making credible internal AI deployment a competitive differentiator.
  • 66.8% of channel partners who report confidence in AI success have already built their own LLM-based solutions, according to Futurum's 2H 2026 survey.
  • SCSK's stated goal is to evolve into an "AX Enabler," a firm that transforms customer business processes through AI-centric digital transformation.

Analysts at The Futurum Group note that SCSK's approach positions the company to cross-sell its internal AI framework to enterprise clients as a standalone competency-mapping product, with patent commercialization possible in Q4 2026 or beyond.
